Discover an authentic coal mine
Blegny-Mine is one of the four authentic coal mines in Europe with
underground galleries accessible for the visitors through the original
shaft. Put your jacket on, adjust your helmet and reach the galleries
with the mining cage to discover the fabulous world of the «black-rock».
Situated at – 30 and – 60 metres, they allow a complete discovery of the
process of coal extraction.
All-day combination tour :
Combine in one day the visit of the coal mine (2 hours)
+ the mining museum (min. 1 h. 30’) : travel through eight centuries of
coal mining (free visit – Possibility to have a guided tour with a
+ the road-train (50’) : take a ride through the orchards of the
+ the slag heap biotope (50') : audio-guided hike presenting life on,
the slag heap
Since 2012, Blegny-Mine and the 3 others major mining sites in Wallonia
(Le Bois du Cazier, Bois-du-Luc and Grand-Hornu) are recognized by
Unesco as a world heritage site.

From 01/07 until 30/08/2019 additionals tours at 12.30, 13.00, 14.30,
15.00 and 16.30
- Free visit of the permanent exhibition from 11.00 until 17.30
- Audio-guided tour of the slag heap biotope from 11.00 until 17.00
